French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

These refrigerators stand out because of their special features, such as door-to-door dispensers and more expensive ice makers.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect, and founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the best one. We looked at the storage capacity, layout, and energy efficiency, among other features.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like its name implies, the GE Profile series is targeted at consumers who want to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into their kitchens. This fridge has them all, from the Keurig K cup coffee maker in the door, to a clever dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is more, I'd expect better.

Other than that however, this refrigerator is a fantastic choice. It comes with a huge freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth french door fridge opening space door refrigerators. Additionally, it holds a fair amount of frozen foods in comparison to similar models.

Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment has 18.5 cubic feet, which is the standard for a French-door refrigerator at this price. It comes with a decent size icemaker in the left door. But, it's not the largest one I've seen.

You can alter the shelves in both compartments to make an individual storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS also looks attractive. The LED lighting is an attractive accent. The bins for storage inside have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers come with temperature controls so that you can set them for Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their textured plastic coatings a bit rough on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range. It has Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also comes with a lot of customization options. It also sends you notifications when the door is unlocked, when the fridge or freezer must be defrosted and when the filter needs to be changed.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill, an option available in other GE refrigerators that allows you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to pour out at once. It does offer a countdown feature on the display of the fridge to display how much water you have remaining, but that's not as helpful as Precise fill.

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is an impressive product. It's designed to look like it's a seamless part of your kitchen. Additionally, the shelves are not sprillproof and can be easily damaged or stained by sharp objects. It's easy to remove the refrigerator trays however, you must clean them regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth french door bottom freezer refrigerator with ice maker Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great choice for those who require plenty of space in an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has a standard French-door layout with gallon-sized door bins on each door as well as two rows of shelves for spill-capture and a set more spacious drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to give tall items more headroom. There's also a full-width drawer for food items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the nice things about this refrigerator is that its ice maker is inside the freezer, which makes it simple to move the ice to the refrigerator to be used when it is required. The freezer also features clever design features, such as sliding drawers that can help you organize your belongings. It also has a large container to store frozen food items, and a separate bin for ice.

The other issue we have with the door of this refrigerator. The handles that are sunken allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a difficult time closing them without slamming. It would have been much better if they had a front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is a great choice for those who want to combine the look of a French door refrigerator with an efficient design. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a great layout. It's also less expensive than the most expensive counter depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, making it an attractive choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for an French door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a solid option. It's a basic fridge that might not be as eye-catching like some of its competitors, but it still has enough features to make it a an excellent option. Its main characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer, which helps keep foods such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has a large water and ice maker dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which is located over the two crisper bins, is a great feature. This drawer lets you redirect part of the fridge's cooling power directly to this area, meaning you can keep food items that require special attention. This feature is adjustable using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also use this to set a general cooling setting for the whole fridge, however, I've found that changing the general settings tends to be more effective than specific ones.

In my tests, I discovered that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator did not differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a great performance however it doesn't be among the top in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of stainless steel with a grey body which has a "smudge-proof" finish. It is capable of preventing streaks and fingerprints from appearing even when compared with shiny stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
