How to Replace an audi car keys replacement G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is located near the transmission's edge just above the flywheel gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is located on the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then uses this information to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jumped chain link in the upper timing chain. The code won't appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It's a bit tricky to test because there are several pins on the connector and each one has different functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. If the sensor is operational, it should read around 1000 ohms. If you are having problems with this sensor, look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll i had a big cut in power as if the engine was running out of gas or injectors aren't firing anymore. This morning i pull out the spark plugs. Three were soaked with gazoline and the fourth was dry. When I start the engine with no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline jump out but the 4th stay closed. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and repairer 48/55 I got zero Ohm. I assume that the problem is somewhere else.

Mercedes-Benz-3D-Star.pngI also tried to reset PID but without success. The car is able to start when the G28 is unplugged and is running fine when it is connected however it has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.

I don't know what to do. I think I've eliminated everything else. But i am afraid i might have missed something. Let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find the spare in a salvage shop or parts store. It is easy to test them: simply put your DMM into resistance mode and Audi Tt key Fob measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing upwards). They must be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know the position and speed the crankshaft to determine fuel injector timing, etc. To accomplish this, it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these go wrong, you will receive codes on the diagnostic scanner that can cause the engine to shut down.

A failing G28 sensor Spare audi key could result in an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox, a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, or a misfire in the gear. If you experience any of these issues it is likely that your sensor is deteriorating and needs replacing. The good thing is that they are very affordable and readily available, especially if you're looking at the Bosch unit which is what we have. If you prefer, GM's version of this component is a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be a cause for a slew of problems in your vehicle. It's a crucial component of the transmission in your audi key replacement cost uk since it sends information to the ECU on how fast or slow the car's engine is spinning. This sensor can cause the transmission to fail and other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU then processes this signal to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost and then transmitting it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should detect an average resistance of 1000 ohms in these areas. This is a typical component across the audi replacement key 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good ones could be available in wrecking yards.
