If this sensor fails, the ECU will show the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper timing chain. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).
It is a little tricky to test as there are several pins on the connector and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms when it is in full operation. Examine for signs of coolant or new Audi keys oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this part.
2. Injectors
Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll i had massive power loss like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors are not firing at all. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, three were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was dry. When I crank the engine, there are no sparks, i place a tissue on top of each injector hole, the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th stays closed. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is elsewhere.
I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.
I don't know what to do. I believe that I've ruled everything else out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump of the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is the same as the G4 and they both work in the 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a junkyard or in a local parts store.
