How to Replace an audi spare key cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace audi key fob the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is located near the transmission's edge over the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via a grey wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

It is located on the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this information to control the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can trigger spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jumpy chain link in the upper timing chain. However the code will not appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit tricky as there are two different connector pins and they serve different purposes but the best way to test it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is operating at its maximum. If you are having problems with this component, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive decrease in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched with gazoline the fourth was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when I turn the engine on without sparks, the three that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one remains closed. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I get zero ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in however it has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows an ice temperature of -49c. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 when i rev the engine.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much eliminated everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is the same as the G4 and they both work in the 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a salvage yard or in a local parts store. It is simple to test them - put your DMM in resistance mode and measure the resistance between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black end of the connector). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B, AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that has to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about fuel injector timing etc. To do this, it uses a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you encounter a problem with either one of these, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger an engine shutdown.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or a misfire when in gear. It is likely that your sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. The good thing is that they are quite affordable and easy to find, especially if you're looking at the Bosch model, like ours. If you prefer, GM's version of this part would be an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

Lexus.jpgA malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a variety of issues in your car. It's a crucial component of the transmission of your audi car keys replacement since it sends information to the ECU on how fast or slow the car's engine is turning. If the sensor fails, it will disrupt the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49, via a grey wire. The ECU then processes this signal to regulate fuel, timig and boost and then sends it on to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, replace replacement audi car key key fob [images.google.com.hk] between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should observe approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between those points. This is a common component across the Replacement Audi A4 Key 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU.
